Search for a new GM

The Labrador Inuit Development Corporation (LIDC) is in the process of beginning the search for a new General Manager.

The position has been left vacant since Brian Vincent resigned from the post at the end of April.

Clint Davis is the Chair for the Labrador Inuit Capital Strategy Trust.

He says in the next couple of months they will begin the search to fill the vacant position.

The LIDC plans to create a comprehensive job description for the position.

Then they will begin the search for a candidate through an executive search firm.

Davis says he doesn’t believe the vacancy will have any implications for the upcoming season.

Chris Webb the former Assistant General Manager, has assumed the role of Acting General Manager.

He says the trustees have complete confidence in Webb’s abilities.

Vincent was the third General Manager to resign from the position since 2005.

Davis believes the high turnover rate can be attributed to a number of reasons.

They include a heavy workload and high demand.

    Good afternoon,

As the Assistant General Manager, who was forced to resign undera bizarre set of circumstances just before Christmas 2009, I would like to be given a chance to compete for the General Manager position.

I have the skills and experience after having work with the federal government for well over a decade as a senior economist and policy analyst guiding and eveloping new programs, policies and strategiesd in support of social and economic development.

Furthermore, as a beneficiary I have a strong desire to use what I have been trained in (Labour and Economic Development) to assist in the long-term sustainability, and socio-economic development of my people, our communities, and ensure a stronger future for our children.

    Sincerely,

    Charles Martin

  2. Good afternoon,

I would like to state that as the most recent Assistant General Manager, who unfortunately fell prey to a bizarre set of circumstances this past fall that forced me to resign, I am very much interested in being considered for the General Manager position that is currently vacant.

With more than a decade of working at the federal government in labour market and economic development capacities, as research economist, program manager, and senior policy advisor, I clearly have the education and experience to do this work. Moreover, I am a beneficiary who is willing to give up my federal employment to take what I have learned and experienced in socio-economic development and contribute to the social, community, and economic development needs of our people.

I have a great desire to do this and I pray that after all of the silly shenanigans of this past fall that somebody in a position of authority will see to it that I can once again prove that I am the most qualified and dedicated person to be the General Manager of the LIDC and ICST.

    Sincerely,

    Charles Martin
